Bollywood stars say can’t stay away from ‘beautiful’ Maldives

Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajida Mohamed, are currently on an official visit to India, where they engaged with prominent figures in Bollywood to promote the picturesque islands as a prime filming location. The meeting highlighted the Maldives’ stunning natural beauty, which has the potential to enhance Bollywood productions.

During the event, several Bollywood stars expressed their admiration for the Maldives and shared their experiences. Shilpa Shetty, a celebrated actress, emphasised her love for the archipelago, stating, “I have been to many resorts, including Taj and Kanuhura, many times—definitely 10 times now. My kids and I enjoyed every trip to the Maldives. The clean white sand and the sea on the beaches are so beautiful. The food is delicious, and the weather is fantastic, so there is no reason not to go to the Maldives.”

I am very much looking forward to going to the Maldives again soon.” Kapoor noted that the meeting with President Muizzu was a significant initiative for tourism between the Maldives and India.

Actress Shriya Saran shared her fond memories of the Maldives, recounting a pivotal moment in her life. “I was on a boat safari at that time. Deep sea diving is something I love, so it’s a paradise on earth, seeing beautiful corals, mantas, sting rays, and whale sharks. Here I met my husband, fell in love, and got married. Now I have come to celebrate my birthday and my son’s birthday. I have very happy and lovely memories in the Maldives,” she said.

Both Sonakshi Sinha and Sunny Kaushal attended the meeting, with Sinha describing the Maldives as one of her favourite destinations. “I visit the Maldives almost every year. It’s a paradise on earth,” she said, encouraging Indian tourists to explore the islands.

The initiative aims to strengthen ties between the Maldives and India, promoting tourism and showcasing the breathtaking landscapes of the Maldives as a backdrop for future Bollywood films.
