Angsana Velavaru promotes Amjad Ahmed to Rooms Division Manager

Angsana Velavaru, a luxury resort nestled in the Maldives’ pristine South Nilandhe Atoll, has announced the promotion of Amjad Ahmed to Rooms Division Manager. Ahmed brings over two decades of experience in the hospitality industry to his new role, including extensive experience at Angsana Velavaru itself.

Amjad’s career in hospitality began in 1999, and he has steadily climbed the ranks, gaining expertise in various roles, from Trainee Receptionist to Front Office Manager. He holds a Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management from University College Birmingham. His diverse experience includes involvement in multiple pre-opening teams, demonstrating his adaptability and strong organizational skills. Before this promotion, Amjad served as Front Office Manager at Angsana Velavaru since December 2020, after previously holding the position of Assistant Front Office Manager (Acting Front Office Manager) for nearly nine years, from June 2008 to February 2017. His longstanding tenure with the resort has provided him with a deep understanding of its operations and guest expectations.

In addition to his time at Angsana Velavaru, Amjad has worked at several prestigious resorts in the Maldives, including Vakkaru Maldives, Sun Aqua Vilu Reef, Olhuveli Beach & Spa Resort, One&Only Resorts, COMO Hotels and Resorts, and Sun Island Resort & Spa. During his tenure at these properties, he honed his skills in managing large teams, overseeing various departments—including Front Desk, Guest Services, Kids Club, Transportation, and retail operations—and consistently exceeding guest expectations. He is highly experienced in handling online guest feedback, budgeting, and implementing operational improvements. Notably, Amjd also participated in a management development program, which included a job swap as Club Lounge Manager at Banyan Tree Bangkok.

In his new role as Rooms Division Manager at Angsana Velavaru, Amjad will oversee all aspects of the resort’s rooms division, ensuring smooth operations and enhancing the guest experience. His responsibilities include managing the front office, housekeeping, and concierge teams, as well as implementing strategies to boost guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.
