‘Your Maldives Holiday Adventure’ colouring books launched for young travellers

A charming new two-volume set of children’s colouring and activity books inspired by the Maldives has launched on Amazon, designed to keep young travellers entertained while introducing them to the magic of island life.

Titled Your Maldives Holiday Adventure, the books are created for children aged 4 to 8 years and feature bold, easy-to-colour illustrations, simple activities, and fun facts about the Maldives. The series aims to spark curiosity about the islands while providing families with a creative travel activity during flights, leisurely afternoons, or quiet moments in the villa.

Volume One explores the vibrant underwater world of the Maldives, inviting young artists to colour tropical reef fish, sea turtles, coral gardens, snorkelling adventures and lagoon life.

Volume Two shifts the focus above the water, introducing children to island culture, sustainability, and the experiences that make a Maldives holiday so memorable.

Published by Storyteller Press, the books are written by Sharon Garrett, a tourism storyteller and hospitality marketing professional who has spent several years working in the Maldives tourism industry.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the series, Sharon said the idea grew from thinking about family travel and how to keep young children engaged while on holiday.

“I found myself thinking about family holidays and changing weather patterns, and one question kept coming back to me – what do you do with little ones who need a break from the hot sun and if it rains on holiday?” she said.

“That simple question sparked the idea for a colouring book that could become a fun travel companion for families visiting the Maldives, something children could enjoy during flights, in the villa, or even before the holiday to build excitement about their trip.”

Each book is available for purchase individually and includes 25 colouring pages and simple activities, designed to be age-appropriate and easy to enjoy while celebrating the natural beauty and culture of the Maldives.

Sharon said she intentionally chose Amazon as the publishing platform because of its print-on-demand model.

“I love the fact that it’s a smarter way to publish. There’s no need to print hundreds of copies and store them somewhere, and there’s no waste. The books are only printed when someone orders one, which feels like a much more sensible and sustainable approach.”

Sharon Garrett is already developing additional titles for other destinations and is currently working on a children’s colouring and activity book celebrating New Zealand’s South Wairarapa, a rural community where she now resides, incorporating elements of Te Reo Māori language and local culture for young learners. The South Wairarapa themed book will be launched alongside the Featherston Booktown Karukatea Festival 2026.
