BML awards sports scholarship to surfer Sayyid Salahuddin

The Bank of Maldives (BML) has announced the recipient of its Sports Scholarship programme.

The scholarship has been awarded to Sayyid Salahuddin for surfing.

Under the programme, Salahuddin will undertake training in China, the Philippines and Indonesia. He is also scheduled to participate in a surfing competition in Australia. The scholarship includes support for equipment required for training and competition.

The Sports Scholarship programme is aimed at supporting Maldivian athletes in their respective disciplines.

Recipients are selected by the Maldives Olympic Committee under an agreement with the bank.

According to BML, eight athletes have received training opportunities through the programme to date.

The bank also supports sports development through partnerships with national associations in football, swimming, tennis, basketball and surfing.
