Dhiraagu Malé Open to host clean-up and social swim events
In the lead-up to the Dhiraagu Malé Open 2026 swimming competition, everyone is invited to take part in the Clean-Up & Social Swim events at Rasfannu on 8 August and 15 August 2026.
The event will begin with a beach clean-up before participants come together for a fun social swim. More than just a swim, it is an opportunity to connect with fellow swimmers, enjoy the open water and show care for the environment that brings the community together. Everyone is invited to bring their friends and family, join the clean-up and stay for the social swim afterwards.
The Dhiraagu Malé Open, recognised as the largest open water swimming event in the Maldives, will take place on 21 and 22 August 2026 at Rasfannu, Malé. Organised by Swim Maldives, the event aims to promote open water swimming, encourage greater participation in the sport and raise awareness of the importance of protecting the Maldives’ marine environment.
To give more swimmers the opportunity to participate, the registration deadline has been extended until 9 August 2026. Participants can register for the 1km, 500m and 250m race categories. This year’s competition will also introduce a new 500m Team Relay, providing an exciting opportunity for friends, families and swimming clubs to compete together.
