Ali Farooq appointed as new Operations Manager at Kurumba Maldives

Ali Farooq, who has been employed at Kurumba Maldives for over 17 years and was serving as the resort’s Food & Beverage Manager, has been appointed as the resort’s Operations Manager. The first resort to open in the Maldives, Kurumba spearheaded the hospitality industry of the country and has served guests for the past 45 years.

A dedicated individual who started his career in hospitality at the age of 18, Ali was one of the youngest staff in Kurumba history to be given a managerial role at the age of 22. Ali continued his success from then on, taking up the position of Assistant Food and Beverage Manager in a few years and was soon promoted to the post of Food and Beverage Manager. Ali started out in the hospitality industry as a waiter and is now the Operations Manager of Kurumba Maldives, and in charge of the staff of most core resort departments.

Kurumba Maldives is located just 10-minutes away from Velana International Airport and 15-minutes away from the capital Malé, by speedboat. Kurumba Maldives originated as a humble resort capable of accommodating just 60 guests a month, which has now grown up to 14,000 guests a month.

A world-class resort with 180 rooms, Kurumba Maldives has a diverse range of restaurants and bars, live entertainment and hosts social events at different locations of the island. Kurumba Maldives was an uninhabited coconut plantation island before 1972 and was converted into a resort by innovative locals, who are now successful hoteliers, and an Italian travel agent who wished to bring Italians to a pristine tropical destination.
