Alia hosts 2025 boat operators training programme to enhance marine safety

Alia, in collaboration with the Maldives Institute of Technology (MIT), has commenced the 2025 Boat Operators Training Programme, continuing its commitment to enhancing safety and operational excellence in the marine transport sector.

Running from July 1-3, the programme brings together 50 boat captains from resorts, marine transport operators, and government institutions. Now in its 11th year, the initiative is specifically designed to strengthen the technical knowledge and practical capabilities of boat captains across the country.

This year’s sessions focus on key operational areas including maritime regulations, safety protocols, emergency response procedures, and onboard health and fire incident management. Participants will also receive hands-on training in the maintenance of outboard engines, along with interactive problem-solving exercises to improve decision-making at sea.

The Boat Operators Training Programme is part of Alia’s broader effort to refine the expertise of boat operators in the industry. As the sole distributor of Yamaha outboard engines in the country, Alia aims that these training programmes are both comprehensive and effective and remains thankful for the strong support from industry partners.

The training programme continues to play a vital role in developing capable, safety-conscious captains equipped to meet the demands of modern marine transport.
