Bank of Maldives opens 6 new branches across Maldives

Bank of Maldives (BML) has inaugurated six new branches across the Maldives as part of an expansion of its service network.

The branches were opened on Wednesday at a ceremony attended by President Mohamed Muizzu, Chairperson Ahmed Ali Habeeb, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef, and other bank officials.

The new branches are located in Haa Dhaalu Hanimaadhoo, Alifu Alifu Thoddoo, Thaa Vilufushi, Seenu Hulhudhoo, Laamu Hithadhoo and Haa Dhaalu Kulhudhuffushi.

The Kulhudhuffushi branch includes a Business Centre focused on corporate and small and medium enterprises.

The bank stated that all six branches will begin operations from Thursday.

Speaking at the ceremony, Shareef said the expansion is intended to improve access to banking services in communities across the country.

He said staff at the branches will engage with households and businesses, including visits to nearby islands within the same atoll, to provide information on banking services and raise awareness on financial matters.

Shareef added that the bank will continue to maintain engagement with customers alongside the development of digital services.
