Bank of Maldives partners with Special Olympics Maldives to support inclusive sports

Bank of Maldives (BML) has announced its partnership with Special Olympics Maldives (SOM), aimed at supporting inclusivity in sports across the Maldives.

The initiative reflects the Bank’s continued focus on promoting equal opportunities and participation in the community.

Under this partnership, the Bank will support SOM’s training, health initiatives, family engagement, leadership programmes, and international representation, as well as its community engagement events, benefiting over 500 registered athletes.

SOM is the national affiliate of the global Special Olympics movement, dedicated to empowering children and youth with Intellectual Disabilities through year-round sports training and competition. Through inclusive sporting opportunities, the organisation helps athletes build confidence, improve physical fitness, and develop essential life skills, while promoting acceptance, dignity, and equal opportunity across communities in the Maldives.

Bank of Maldives continues to support sports development in the Maldives through national initiatives, partnerships and programmes that promote youth participation and inclusive access across the country.
