BML to increase overseas credit card limits from February

Bank of Maldives (BML) has announced that it will revise overseas transaction limits on credit cards from next month.

President Mohamed Muizzu announced in September that the foreign currency limit on credit cards would be increased starting next month.

In a statement issued on social media on Wednesday, the bank said the overseas transaction limits on its credit cards will be adjusted as follows:

  • Classic Card: limit increased to USD 1,400 from USD 750
  • Gold Card: limit increased to USD 1,500 from USD 750
  • Platinum Card: limit increased to USD 3,000 from USD 1,500

The bank also said that the limit for overseas debit card payments was increased to USD 1,000 from 11 November 2025.

In addition, the bank has raised the debit card payment limit for airline tickets and hotel payments abroad to USD 3,000.

Payments for medical treatment may also be made using debit cards upon request to the bank, BML said.
