CROSSROADS Maldives celebrates plastic-free July movement

S Hotels and Resorts PCL (SHR), the international hospitality company under Singha Estate, is celebrating the global Plastic-Free July movement by introducing innovative holiday experiences focused on sustainability and nature. As environmentally responsible tourism gains momentum, SHR is committed to reducing plastic waste and promoting sustainable practices.

Fully plastic-free CROSSROADS Maldives has partnered with Maldives’ Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy to jointly maintain the stunning natural landscape where the property hosts eco-tourism classes for guests and local schoolchildren. Additionally, the resort’s popular Junior Marine Biologist programme focuses on the impact of plastic pollution on marine life, with Marine Discovery Centre playing host to rotating exhibitions showcasing coral diversity and emphasising the importance of conservation.

“To remain at the forefront of environmental stewardship, all SHR hotels take concrete actions to protect our planet, including phasing out single-use plastic, embracing electric vehicles for transportation, installing solar panels and on-site water treatment systems, offering water-refilling corners and eco-friendly bathroom amenities, and much more,” said Michael Marshall, CEO of S Hotels and Resorts. “This July, as part of the global Plastic-Free July movement, we are proud to have our guests involved in hands-on activities and experiences that allow them to actively contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable world.”

Just 15 minutes from Velana International Airport and Malé, CROSSROADS Maldives invites you to go beyond the typical “one-island, one-resort” experience and enter a fully integrated lifestyle destination. With three resorts, a 30-berth quay, the legendary Hard Rock Cafe, diverse retail and dining, thrilling excursions and blissful spa offerings, this is where memories are made.
