Dhiraagu opens first atoll-based Tier III data centre in N. Velidhoo

Dhiraagu has inaugurated its third data centre – and the first to be located in the atolls – in N. Velidhoo, marking a significant milestone in the company’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the nation’s digital infrastructure and expand access to technological solutions across the Maldives.

The inauguration ceremony took place on 11 November 2025 in N. Velidhoo and was jointly officiated by the CEO and Managing Director of Dhiraagu, Ismail Rasheed, and the President of Velidhoo Island Council, Athif Hussain.

The new facility is a Tier III Ready data centre, reflecting Dhiraagu’s commitment to global standards of reliability, security and operational excellence. The centre will enable businesses, including resorts and enterprises operating in the region, to host and safeguard their data securely and closer to their operations. It will also enhance the resilience and efficiency of cloud-based services and critical applications, support business continuity and provide greater convenience for customers across the atolls.

Earlier this year, Dhiraagu inaugurated the first and only Tier IV Certified data centre in the Maldives, located in Hulhumalé. This certification, awarded by the Uptime Institute, represents the highest level of reliability and fault tolerance, further strengthening the company’s nationwide digital infrastructure capabilities.

With the opening of its latest facility, Dhiraagu reaffirms its position as the leading digital enabler in the Maldives, continuing to invest in advanced infrastructure that supports innovation, connectivity and sustainable growth across the islands.
