Dhiraagu strengthens support for visually impaired communities
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives to empower vulnerable communities, Dhiraagu has extended its support to the Blind and Visually Impaired Society of the Maldives (BVISM) in organising inclusive community events across Shaviyani Atoll.
BVISM, a non-governmental organisation committed to advocating for the rights and well-being of the blind and visually impaired in the Maldives, is conducting a series of sensitisation sessions in the islands of Kanditheemu, Milandhoo, Funadhoo, and Komandoo. These sessions, held in collaboration with local councils, are aimed at raising awareness, fostering inclusivity, and encouraging greater acceptance within local communities.
In addition to event support, Dhiraagu continues to provide in-kind assistance to BVISM through its Phone Meeting service. This dedicated platform allows BVISM members to make free calls within the Dhiraagu network, significantly enhancing communication and accessibility for the visually impaired. The service enables the organisation to hold regular meetings remotely—an essential solution when physical gatherings are not feasible. It also supports peer interaction, remote training, and knowledge-sharing activities, thereby strengthening community ties and building capacity within the BVISM network.
Dhiraagu remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting children, youth, and vulnerable communities through programme-based assistance and inclusive initiatives.
