Dusit Thani Maldives announces “retro” themed New Year’s Eve

Held on the sands at the Market Restaurant, this unique event will feature a sumptuous buffet of international gourmet dishes made using the finest locally sourced and imported ingredients, according to a statement.

Guests can expect to enjoy everything from seafood and kebabs through to shawarmas and fajitas, as well as a selection of special dishes prepared at live cooking stations. A children’s buffet, meanwhile, will offer a range of options for younger diners. Especially for the occasion, professional ballroom dancers SCENÁ Showdance from Romania will showcase their dazzling skills, while the resort’s Resident Duo will perform a series of dance-inducing hits to give the party a true fiesta feeling.

When the clock strikes midnight, the fireworks will begin, signalling the end of the year, the arrival of 2019, and the beginning of a ‘Sparkling White’ after-party at the resort’s Market Beach, where DJs, shisha, live music, glow sticks and a vibrant atmosphere await. Throughout the festive season, Dusit Thani Maldives is arranging a series of special activities to make this time of the year truly magical for guests. From a Christmas tree lighting ceremony and carol singing to a visit from Santa himself, younger guests will find plenty of festive themed-activities to fill their days throughout December.

Every day guests will also be able to enjoy the soulful sounds of Souled Out, the resort’s in-house, five-piece band from Thessaloniki, Greece, as well as the pop and jazz repertoire of talented, globe-trotting Russian musical duo, Pop&Jazz, featuring Anastasia (vocals) and Vladimir (saxophone, keyboard and guitar).
