Exclusive representation for Maldivian entities at tourism fairs

Maldivian tour operators and travel agents will now have exclusive representation rights for promoting Maldives’ tourism at international fairs. The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) announced this shift in policy to prioritise local participation and enhance the promotion of the Maldivian tourism industry.

MMPRC Managing Director Fathimath Thaufeeg shared the update through an announcement on Wednesday, clarifying that only Maldivian travel companies will be permitted to represent the country at these promotional events. This policy revision aligns with the revised membership policy, where preference will be given to locally registered tour operators, travel agents, and companies.

The decision aims to boost the involvement of Maldivians in foreign tourism fairs, emphasising their unique perspective in presenting the distinctive offerings of the Maldivian tourism sector.

MMPRC Deputy Managing Director Mohammed Bassam Adam highlighted the corporation’s commitment to increasing local participation in promoting Maldives’ tourism. He stressed that the decision is rooted in the belief that the essence of the Maldivian tourism industry is best conveyed by the people of the Maldives.
