Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives launches ‘Giving for Good’ with inspiring community initiatives

At Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives, the spirit of giving back remains a core value. Through IHG’s initiative, “Giving for Good,” the resort hosts a month-long program filled with activities that emphasise sustainability, community support, and the well-being of those around them. Both the resort’s team and guests come together throughout September to make a positive and meaningful impact.

“Giving back is something we take great pride in here at Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives,” stated Mark Eletr, General Manager of the resort. He added, “Through IHG’s ‘Giving for Good’ initiative, we’re not only creating lasting memories for our guests but also making meaningful contributions to the local communities and environment.”

As part of the initiative, the resort team will visit Maafushi in September for a significant tree-planting effort aimed at improving the island’s ecosystem and enhancing its natural beauty. This event is part of the resort’s long-term sustainability commitment in the Maldives. Additionally, spreading joy to children in need is a central aspect of the “Giving for Good” program. The team plans to visit the Hulhumale Autism Centre to distribute books and toys, bringing happiness and offering essential resources to support the children’s development.

“At Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives, there is a strong belief in supporting all parts of the community.” Mark Eletr explained that the team will deliver care packages and host a special lunch for children at the Children’s Centre, emphasising the importance of kindness and providing essentials that can make daily life a bit easier for those in need.

A Blood Donation Camp will also be organised as part of the initiative, inviting employees to give back in a profound way by donating blood. Additionally, a “Walk for a Cause” event will be arranged for the resort’s staff, with participants walking along the scenic Kandooma Beach. This event fosters unity while supporting the health and well-being of the wider community, offering a way to stay fit while contributing to a meaningful cause.

Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives has long been dedicated to helping others. The team will lead a clean-up drive at Guraidhoo Sandbank, followed by tree planting, and collaborate with locals on small refurbishment projects on the islands of Gulhi and Guraidhoo. These efforts aim to create better spaces where local communities can thrive.
