ILAA Maldives marks 25 years, launches new logo and website

ILAA Maldives Pvt Ltd has celebrated its 25th anniversary with a grand event held at Hotel Jen, unveiling a new logo and improved website. Established in August 1991 by Adnan Moosa and Hamdhiyya Abdul Gafoor, ILAA Maldives has been providing quality engineering solutions with world-renowned products across Maldives. Hamdhiyya Abdul Gafoor – the director and founding member of the family-run business gave a speech and informed the invitees about how the company was formed and how far they have come since.

As the event unfolded the new logo was revealed. Zaina Shareef, the designer involved gave a presentation on the design and how it was created. The emphasis was on giving new life to an ever-growing company that focused on environmentally stable engineering solutions. The main colours used were green and brown – green resembling sustainability and life, and brown representing durability. ‘Ilaa’, which is the Dhivehi name given for a burlap-textured leaf found on the coconut palm tree is also represented in the logo as a leaf that wraps around the letter “I”.

“With angular and structural forms, ILAA’s logo reflects an engineering company, the leaf reflects green technology and a company that values sustainable solutions,” said Adnan Moosa, the managing director of ILAA Maldives. “The abstract pattern on the leaf is derived from the crisscrossing fibres found in actual ‘ilaa’ leaves. This leaf distinguishes the company’s branding from its competitors.”The company’s new website design was also launched at the event and featured an elegant presentation of the company’s profile, authorised brands and services. Adnan Moosa revealed why the rebranding was crucial to the company: “It is important to modernise the image of the company whilst remaining an engineering company without losing its ties to the past.”Since partnering with TeamTec of Norway in the late nineties, ILAA has become the leading supplier of incinerators in the country with an incinerator in almost every resort. In the year 2004, the company expanded into supplying compactors and locally assembled glass crushers to resorts – these products are essential to resorts for managing waste and export for recycling. The preferred mode of transport in resorts is by electric vehicles and ILAA has become a premier supplier of electric cars to resorts in the Maldives.

The year 2007 was a milestone for the company; as they became a Second Level Distributor for Caterpillar (CAT) generators and marine engines in the territory of Maldives – and since have been awarded the Authorised Marine Dealer status in 2011. ILAA is also an authorised distributor of TOTAL lubricants, SANY products and Trojan Deep cycle batteries.

“With the changes in the world economy and Maldives, we are reorienting ourselves to new challenges, to be part of it and take the company to new heights,” Adnan said.

ILAA’s mission – as stated on its website – is “to be the leader in providing effective engineering solutions, quality products and excellent services to achieve total customer satisfaction in the region.” To learn more about ILAA Maldives and its products and services, please visit ilaamaldives.com.
