Maldivian hotelier Maain Shahid appointed Front Office Manager at Norman’s Cay, The Exumas
Norman’s Cay, an ultra-luxury Bahamian island hideaway in the Exumas, has appointed Maain Shahid as the new Front Office Manager.
Maain, a rising star among young Maldivian hoteliers, brings a wealth of experience and a stellar track record in the hospitality industry. Prior to his move to the Caribbean, Maain served as the Front Office Manager at the trendsetting Patina Maldives in the Fari Islands. He joined the team during its pre-opening phase as an Assistant Manager and quickly earned the trust and respect of his team and management, leading to his promotion to the managerial role.
Before his successful tenure at Patina Maldives, Maain worked as a Duty Manager during the pre-opening and first year of operations at Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi. A graduate of Hilton’s Management Development Programme, Maain also held key Front Office positions at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, Hilton & Doubletree by Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok. His hospitality career began with internships at prestigious properties like One&Only Reethi Rah and The Ritz Carlton, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Maain’s educational qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree Double Major in Hospitality and Tourism Management from James Cook University Australia (Singapore Campus) and a Master of International Business in Hotel, Resort & Spa Management from the Swiss Hotel Management School in Leysin, Switzerland.
Maain credits his success in the industry to his genuine passion for culture, people, and creating memorable experiences. His vision is to inspire the next generation of young Maldivian hoteliers by fostering interest and passion and helping them establish successful careers in the industry.

Norman’s Cay, located in the northern Exumas, Bahamas, is a pristine island with a new marina featuring 37 slips for boats up to 210 feet and plans for expansion. The island’s unique history includes a past as a base for the Medellin Cartel in the 1980s.
