Rukuri launches integrated recruitment platform for Maldives hospitality sector

Rukuri, a purpose-built digital recruitment platform for the hospitality and tourism industry, has been launched with the aim of improving efficiency, transparency, and accessibility in recruitment across the Maldives, according to its founders.

Founded in 2023 by Island Recruits, Rukuri has been developed in response to the growing professionalisation of the Maldives’ tourism sector and the increasing demand for a more structured and integrated hiring process. The platform brings job opportunities, applications, and employer–candidate communication into a single digital space tailored to the needs of hospitality businesses and professionals.

Designed primarily for resorts, guesthouses, restaurants, and tourism service providers, Rukuri is built around three core pillars: clarity of opportunity, ease of access, and transparency of process. The platform centralises curated hospitality roles ranging from senior leadership positions to specialised operational and support roles, allowing job seekers to access relevant vacancies through one trusted channel.

Rukuri enables candidates to apply for jobs, manage applications, and track progress in real time, reducing the uncertainty often associated with recruitment. Employers, meanwhile, are provided with a unified dashboard to post vacancies, review verified candidate profiles, and manage the end-to-end hiring process more efficiently, supporting faster and more consistent decision-making.

The platform also addresses the sector’s increasing reliance on flexible staffing arrangements. With a dedicated focus on freelance and project-based roles, Rukuri allows resorts and tourism businesses to engage verified professionals for short-term or specialised assignments, supporting operational agility while maintaining recruitment standards.

To strengthen confidence in hiring, Rukuri incorporates employment history and credential verification, encouraging the development of a trusted talent pool. Reference checks are integrated directly into the platform, reducing manual follow-ups and shortening hiring timelines for employers while helping candidates present confirmed experience.

Commenting on the launch, Ali ‘Thompey’ Faiz, Co-Founder of Island Recruits, said the platform was created to simplify and humanise recruitment in the Maldives.

“Rukuri was born from a simple vision: to make recruitment clearer, fairer, and more human. By creating one trusted space where people can find opportunities, apply with ease, and track their journey, we are empowering the Maldivian workforce while helping employers hire with greater clarity and precision,” he said.

Based in Malé, Rukuri is positioned as a long-term initiative to support the continued growth of the Maldives’ tourism industry by strengthening recruitment practices through a more transparent, efficient, and professional digital ecosystem.
