Marco Den Ouden appointed new general manager at Soneva Jani

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Marco Den Ouden has been appointed as the new general manager of Soneva Jani. A passionate hotelier with over 23 years of experience as a general manager, Marco completed his executive MBA at the Rotterdam Business School and throughout his career had worked in Rotterdam, London, Geneva, Chengdu, Singapore, the Maldives, Bali and Zhejiang.

“It is my passion for people, differentiation and food that continue to inspire me. After working for Alila Hotels & Resorts for four and half years and opening their first hotels in China, I realised I missed the bright waters, genuine smiles and ultra-luxury that come with the Maldives,” said Marco, speaking with Hotelier Maldives. “So, when I encountered the amazing people that continue to build the unique aspects of the Soneva brand, I was delighted to be approached and appointed as their GM for Soneva Jani.”

Marco arrived in the Maldives from Wuzhen, China, where he served as the general manager at Alila Wuzhen. No stranger to the Maldives, Marco served as the general manager of Huvafen Fushi prior to joining Alila Hotels & Resorts in 2014. Starting his career in the late 1990s in his native Netherlands, Marco built up a wealth of experience with brands including Holiday Inn and NH Hotels.

“Soneva Jani is a unique property with a very different design and profound connection to its context. Located on the island of Medhufaru in a 5.6 km lagoon in the Noonu Atoll, Soneva Jani features both overwater and island villas. Each water villa opens to its very own stretch of the lagoon and is complete with a private pool and a retractable roof to stargaze from the master bedroom. Some of the villas have slides from the top floor directly into the lagoon below.
