Universal Foundation awards fully funded medical scholarships
Today, a ceremony was held to present fully funded scholarships for medical specialisation programs by the Universal Foundation. The recipients of these scholarships are:
- Dr. Fathimath Mishfa Waseem, Master of Otorhinolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia.
- Dr. Nuha Abdoul Rahman, Master of Paediatrics, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia.
- Dr. Aminath Najdha, Master of Medicine (Surgery), Universiti Sains Malaysia, Malaysia.
The Universal Foundation has been awarding scholarships in various fields, including medicine, for many years, even prior to its establishment in 2014. The scholarships granted by the Universal Foundation from 2014 to 2024 are as follows:
- 67 Medical Scholarships (MBBS & Specialisations)
- 4 in Accounting and Finance
- 19 in Business (Management, HR & Marketing)
- 3 in Design (Graphics & Interior)
- 2 in Education
- 10 in Engineering (Mechanical, Aircraft, Architecture)
- 9 in Hospitality (Hospitality & Culinary)
- 3 in Information Technology
- 1 in Marine Biology
- 3 in Pilot Training
In total, 121 scholarships have been awarded abroad, with 15 students currently studying under Universal scholarships internationally. Additionally, 20 students are completing their internships at Universal Resorts.
The Universal Foundation collaborates with various NGOs and government agencies to implement diverse programs. Significant past initiatives include upgrading four special education classrooms at Imaduddin, conducting SEN teachers training workshops in partnership with NIE, organising heart check-up camps with Tiny Hearts, providing patient transport services through MRC, installing an incinerator at the Guraidhoo Marukazu centre, and running health camps in atolls, along with environmental initiatives and beach clean-up activities.
