SO/ Maldives marks Pinktober with community-focused initiatives

This October, SO/ Maldives has joined the global movement for breast cancer awareness with a series of initiatives under the theme ‘We’re In It Together.’ As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment, the resort is extending its efforts beyond the island, uniting guests, hosts, and communities across the Maldives in support of the cause.

The Pinktober programme at SO/ Maldives places emphasis on turning awareness into action, underlining the shared responsibility of creating impact, inspiring hope, and spreading knowledge. In partnership with the Cancer Society of Maldives and AW Medplus, the resort is working to amplify the message of early detection, education, and solidarity.

Key Highlights of Pinktober at SO/ Maldives:

  • Pink Ribbon Run – In collaboration with the Cancer Society of Maldives, SO/ Maldives will participate in the nationwide Pink Ribbon Run, which is being held simultaneously across multiple islands and atolls. Guests and resort staff will join together, running not only for wellness but also to raise awareness, show solidarity, and support cancer research and care initiatives in the Maldives.
  • Breast Cancer Awareness Session – In partnership with AW Medplus, the resort will host a breast cancer awareness session. Guests and team members will have the opportunity to engage with health experts to learn more about the importance of early detection, recommended screening practices, and the need to break down stigma surrounding open conversations on health.
  • ‘Hope Blooms’ – Plant a Pink Garden – Symbolising resilience, unity, and growth, SO/ Maldives will launch “Hope Blooms”, a community-led activity where guests and staff will come together to plant a pink garden on the island. Each flower will represent a tribute to survivors, a remembrance of those lost, and a symbol of collective hope for a cancer-free future.

Through a combination of wellness, education, and sustainability, SO/ Maldives aims to create a ripple effect, raising awareness not only among its guests but also across the Maldives and the wider global community.

General Manager Olivier Moies-Delval said: “Pinktober is more than a month; it is a movement of care, courage, and community. At SO/ Maldives, we are proud to stand in solidarity with the Cancer Society of Maldives and AW Medplus, while inviting our guests to be part of something bigger than themselves. Together, we can bring awareness and inspire change that goes beyond borders.”
