InterContinental Maldives joins IHG’s ‘Giving for Good’ initiative with month of purposeful action

InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort has joined thousands of IHG colleagues across the world this September in celebrating Giving for Good Month – an annual initiative dedicated to making a difference through acts of kindness, sustainability, and community support.

Rooted in IHG’s commitment to True Hospitality for Good, the resort’s colleagues united throughout the month in a series of meaningful activities that nurtured the environment, empowered local communities, and supported wellbeing.

Island Cleaning – 7 September

The month began with a dedicated island cleaning activity, where colleagues worked together to clear waste from the shoreline and surrounding greenery. This initiative reflected the resort’s deep commitment to environmental stewardship, demonstrating how small steps today can protect the Maldivian islands for future generations.

Donation to Raa. Alifushi School – 9 September

As part of Giving for Good, the resort donated a complete set of multi-purpose court mats to Raa. Alifushi School. This contribution creates a safe and vibrant space for sports and recreation, encouraging students to come together in play, teamwork, and community spirit for years to come.

Lagoon Cleaning – 15 September

Protecting marine ecosystems is a cause close to the resort’s heart. On this day, colleagues immersed themselves in a lagoon cleaning initiative to preserve the pristine waters of Maamunagau and safeguard habitats for marine life. It was a powerful reminder that caring for the ocean is a shared responsibility.

Beach Cleaning at Baa. Kudarikilu – 16 September

The team travelled to Baa. Kudarikilu Island for a community beach cleaning initiative, held in conjunction with International Housekeeping Week 2025. Beyond restoring the island’s natural beauty, the activity sparked conversations on sustainability, teamwork, and how simple acts can ripple into larger change when people come together.

Blood Donation Camp – 24 September

In partnership with Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), InterContinental Maldives hosted a blood donation camp at the resort. With 30 successful donors, the initiative underscored the gift of life and the collective strength of humanity. The IGMH medical team’s guidance and care were instrumental in ensuring the success of this life-saving event.

Career Day with Baa. Dhonfanu School Students – 30 September

Closing the month on an inspiring note, colleagues organised a Career Day with students from Baa. Dhonfanu School. The students engaged in interactive departmental sessions – from culinary arts to guest services – gaining hands-on exposure to the hospitality industry and encouragement for their future career paths.
