British couple marks 70th visit to Maldives, celebrated by Visit Maldives and Coco Collection

A British couple, Mike and Janice, have reached an extraordinary milestone this week as they arrived in the Maldives for their 70th visit — a testament to their long-standing affection for the island nation. Their arrival was marked with a special welcome hosted by Visit Maldives, Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA), and Coco Collection.

Visit Maldives announced the couple’s milestone visit in a social media post, noting that their relationship with the country has been shaped by “unforgettable sunsets, warm smiles, and cherished memories”. The tourism board described their enduring bond with the Maldives as a reminder of the emotional connections that keep travellers returning to the archipelago year after year.

As part of the celebration, Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu welcomed Mike and Janice for what is now their 58th stay at the resort. According to Coco Collection, the couple has been visiting the property for 25 years, forming a deep attachment to the island and its team.

“This holiday marked their 58th stay at our resort and an incredible 70th visit to the Maldives,” Coco Collection shared. “Their loyalty and affection for Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu truly inspire us, and we are grateful for the trust they have placed in us over the years.”

The couple, who hail from the United Kingdom, first stayed at Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu in 2000 and have since returned repeatedly, becoming part of the resort’s extended family. Their continued visits highlight the Maldives’ enduring appeal for repeat travellers, particularly those seeking familiar comfort, personalised service, and long-standing relationships with resort communities.

The celebration reflects the collaborative efforts of Visit Maldives and Coco Collection to honour guests who play a meaningful role in the country’s tourism story. As the Maldives continues to welcome millions of travellers each year, stories like Mike and Janice’s reinforce the emotional resonance of the islands — a destination many consider a second home.
