MATATO launches AI Productivity Workshop for Maldives tourism industry

The Maldives Association of Travel Agents & Tour Operators (MATATO) has announced the launch of an AI Productivity Workshop for the Maldives tourism industry, scheduled to take place on Sunday, 15 February 2026, beginning at 08:00 hrs.

This one-day pilot initiative is designed as an industry-wide capacity-building programme aimed at equipping tourism professionals with the knowledge and practical skills needed to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) safely, responsibly and productively in daily operations.

While AI is already widely utilised across the tourism sector, improper or unsafe use can expose guest and business data, creating legal, reputational and operational risks. The workshop will focus on helping participants enhance communication quality, improve operational efficiency and strengthen decision-making, while ensuring compliance and ethical application.

  • Safe and compliant AI usage practices
  • Reduced administrative workload

  • Increased confidence in responsible workplace AI usage

The one-day training will cover:

  • AI fundamentals and tool navigation
  • Compliance, privacy and risk management
  • Safe data handling and anonymisation
