Marriott International concludes first China Roadshow for Maldives resorts

Marriott International in the Maldives has concluded its first China Roadshow, engaging 106 travel agents across Shanghai, Chengdu and Shenzhen. The initiative marks a strategic step aimed at strengthening relationships with travel partners and reinforcing the group’s long-term commitment to the Chinese outbound travel market.

The roadshow was organised to enhance engagement with trade partners while showcasing Marriott International’s portfolio of resorts in the Maldives. Presentations highlighted a range of guest experiences available across the properties, including wellness and spa programmes, dining concepts, marine excursions and accommodation options featuring overwater and beachfront villas. The resorts also emphasised scenic locations across the destination that appeal to travellers seeking visually distinctive experiences.

By meeting directly with agents in Shanghai, Chengdu and Shenzhen, Marriott International aimed to strengthen collaboration with travel partners while supporting commercial growth and long-term partnerships in one of the world’s largest outbound tourism markets. Participating agents received updates on product developments, promotional initiatives and collaborative opportunities designed to support bookings and improve engagement with travellers.

The roadshow coincided with the launch of a dedicated China destination sales team, established to strengthen market engagement and operational coordination. The team is led by Emily Zhou, supported by account directors Fiona Wang, Jiang Qing Deng, Shenglan Huang, and Zhang Hanrui. The team will focus on strengthening partnerships with travel agents, identifying new business opportunities and expanding Marriott International’s presence in China.

Commenting on the initiative, Peter Foreman said the roadshow demonstrated the company’s commitment to the Greater China market and its focus on working closely with travel trade partners. He added that the newly established China destination sales team would help provide more tailored support while strengthening relationships and expanding business opportunities in the market.

Marriott International currently operates nine resorts in the Maldives, including The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands, The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort, W Maldives, JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa, JW Marriott Maldives Kaafu Atoll Island Resort, Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa, Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa, The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort, and The Halcyon Private Isles Maldives, Autograph Collection.

Together, these properties represent a significant presence for Marriott International in the Maldives and reflect the company’s continued focus on developing the destination as a leading luxury travel market.
