Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race 2026 opens registration with 4 new team categories

Dhiraagu has officially opened registrations for the highly anticipated Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race (DMRR) 2026, set to take place on 20 November 2026, Friday at Hulhumalé Central Park.

This announcement was made at a special press conference held at Dhiraagu Head Office, attended by senior officials from Dhiraagu and key partners of the event, including the Athletics Association of Maldives, Maldives Police Service and Housing Development Corporation (HDC), who are working together to support the successful delivery of DMRR 2026.

Adding even more excitement to DMRR this year, Dhiraagu has introduced four new team categories for Corporate Teams, Resort Team, Running Clubs, and College/Universities. Each team will consist of four runners, with the champion teams crowned from each category. Therefore, interested participants can now register for Half Marathon, 10K, 5K open and the new team categories via dmrr.dhiraagu.com.mv. A total of MVR 296,000 in cash prizes will be awarded to winners across all race categories.

Speaking at the press conference, Dhiraagu’s Director of Brand and Marketing Communications, Mirshan Hassan, stated, “DMRR has always been a run for everyone. Through this event, we aim to bring more people together through running, while continuing to build a culture of health and fitness, competitive spirit, and community engagement. This year, with the introduction of new team categories, we are creating even more opportunities for people to participate, connect, and be part of the DMRR experience.

DMRR is the first international run held in the Maldives and is listed on the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) World Running Calendar, with a World Athletics-certified race route. As the largest annual run in the country, DMRR brings together runners and communities from across the Maldives and abroad.

Continuing its meaningful tradition, DMRR 2026 is once again dedicated towards the cause of child protection which is a central focus of Dhiraagu’s social responsibility programme. The run will create a platform for NGOs to advocate for children’s rights and raise funds for their cause.

Dhiraagu will donate MVR 200,000 to the top five endorsed NGOs nominated by participants during registration, supporting them in kick-starting their planned initiatives. In addition, Dhiraagu will donate MVR 100 from each participant registration, along with all proceeds from special bib number sales, equally among the endorsed partner NGOs. In 2025, DMRR raised a total of MVR 685,000 in donations for the 13 partner NGOs, supporting their planned initiatives to create a positive impact across communities.

Registrations for DMRR 2026 are now open and will be closed once the limit of 4,000 participants is reached.
