BML awards funding to 5 community development projects under Bank Fund 2026

Bank of Maldives (BML) has announced the recipients of ‘Bank Fund 2026’, an initiative aimed at empowering NGOs and supporting sustainable community development projects across the Maldives.

The recipients of the Bank Fund this year are:

  1. Dhidhdhoo Kurimagu: Establishing HIVE, a Digital Innovation and Community Resilience Hub in HA. Dhidhdhoo to provide a dedicated space for digital learning, innovation and community activities.
  2. Unity Sports Academy: Restoring the freshwater pond and developing the Maamuli Eco Park in Sh. Funadhoo to support environmental conservation and community use.
  3. Laamu Farmers Association: Establishing the Fahigovaan Value-Added Agro-Processing Hub in L. Fonadhoo and Gan to support local farmers, livelihoods and climate-smart agriculture.
  4. Blue Guild Foundation: Establishing a small-scale makerspace at Sh. Atoll School to provide students with hands-on opportunities for creativity, innovation and practical learning.
  5. Kalaidhoo Wings: Developing ‘Kalaidhoo Wings Hiyaa’ near the Kalaidhoo Jetty, featuring a waiting area, feeding room, washrooms, a small library and a digital notice board.

The ‘Bank Fund’ is an annual programme through which five proposals submitted to the bank are selected each year to receive MVR 200,000 in funding. Through the initiative, BML remains committed to empowering local communities and supporting sustainable development across the Maldives. So far, BML has supported 14 projects under the ‘Bank Fund’. Additionally, funding was provided to 100 projects under the Bank’s previous Community Fund initiative.
