Atoll Solar signs as Silver Sponsor of Hotelier Maldives GM Forum 2026

Hotelier Maldives has announced Atoll Solar as a Silver Sponsor of the Hotelier Maldives General Managers (GM) Forum 2026, strengthening the participation of companies working on energy and infrastructure solutions for the country’s resort sector.

The 10th edition of the GM Forum will take place on 5 October at CROSSROADS Maldives under the theme “Resilience and Reinvention: Talent, Technology & Transformation.” The annual gathering will bring together resort general managers, owners, senior executives, government representatives and industry partners to discuss operational and strategic issues shaping the future of tourism and hospitality in the Maldives.

Atoll Solar provides renewable energy solutions designed for resorts and island environments in the Maldives. Its services cover the full solar project cycle, including design, installation and maintenance, with solutions ranging from hybrid solar systems for resorts to off-grid systems for isolated islands. The company is a subsidiary of Octopus Systems, a hospitality systems integrator with more than three decades of industry experience.

The company is also working with technologies including solar photovoltaic systems, battery energy storage and microgrids, as well as floating solar solutions intended to enable resorts to increase renewable energy generation where available rooftop or land space is limited.

Bjorn Aastsjo, Hospitality Relations at Atoll Solar, said the GM Forum provides an opportunity to engage directly with resort leaders as energy management becomes increasingly connected to long-term operational planning.

“Energy is a fundamental part of resort operations in the Maldives, and decisions being made today will influence operating costs, resilience and sustainability for many years to come. Atoll Solar is focused on helping resorts identify practical ways to increase renewable energy generation while maintaining the reliability required in an island environment. The GM Forum brings together the people making these strategic decisions, and we are pleased to support the 2026 edition as a Silver Sponsor,” he added.

Energy resilience has particular relevance to this year’s GM Forum theme, which will examine how hospitality businesses can adapt to economic pressures, climate-related risks, technological change and evolving workforce requirements. Discussions will cover leadership and organisational resilience, talent development, technology, automation and the transformation of resort operations.

Ali Naafiz, Editor of Hotelier Maldives, welcomed Atoll Solar’s participation in the forum.

“Resilience in resort operations depends on the infrastructure and systems that support a property every day, and energy is an important part of that conversation. As resorts look at reducing dependence on conventional energy sources while managing costs and maintaining operational reliability, renewable energy solutions are becoming increasingly relevant to senior management. We are pleased to welcome Atoll Solar as a Silver Sponsor and to have their perspective represented within the wider industry dialogue at GM Forum 2026,” he added.

Atoll Solar’s participation also builds on its engagement with Hotelier Maldives’ industry platforms. In 2025, the company supported TechEng as its Renewable Energy Category Sponsor, engaging with resort engineering, procurement and sustainability professionals on renewable energy systems for hospitality infrastructure.

Launched in 2016, the Hotelier Maldives GM Forum provides a platform for senior tourism and hospitality leaders to exchange perspectives on issues affecting resort operations and the wider industry. The 2026 edition marks 10 years since the forum was established and will feature presentations, panel discussions and networking sessions focused on the challenges and opportunities facing the sector.

Through its Silver Sponsorship, Atoll Solar will join Hotelier Maldives and other industry partners in supporting discussions around the operational, technological and strategic changes influencing the next phase of hospitality in the Maldives.
