Visit Maldives promotes destination at TTG Travel Experience 2026 in Italy

Visit Maldives is participating in TTG Travel Experience 2026, being held from 14 to 16 October in Rimini, Italy, as part of efforts to strengthen the Maldives’ presence in one of its established European tourism source markets.

A delegation of 48 industry representatives from 24 companies is participating in the event under the Visit Maldives umbrella. Throughout the three-day exhibition, the delegation will engage with Italian travel trade partners, industry stakeholders, marketing agencies and media representatives through meetings and networking sessions.

TTG Travel Experience provides a platform for destination representatives and international travel professionals to establish partnerships, exchange market insights and explore business opportunities.

“Italy has a longstanding connection with the Maldives, and our focus is to build on that relationship by introducing more travellers to the breadth of experiences our destination has to offer. TTG Travel Experience gives us an important opportunity to engage directly with Italian travel partners, explore new avenues for collaboration and present a broader picture of the Maldives to the market. Through continued engagement with our partners, we aim to sustain interest in the destination and create new opportunities for growth,” said Abdulla Yasir, CEO and Managing Director of Visit Maldives Corporation.

Through its participation, Visit Maldives aims to strengthen relationships with travel trade partners, increase destination awareness and provide the Italian market with updated information on the Maldives’ tourism offerings. The exhibition also allows participating Maldivian tourism businesses to introduce their latest products, properties and experiences to international travel professionals.

The Maldives is being represented through a 96-square-metre stand designed to showcase the destination’s tourism experiences and natural environment.

Throughout 2026, Visit Maldives has undertaken several marketing initiatives targeting the Italian market, including a media familiarisation trip organised in collaboration with Alpitour and a joint marketing campaign with Sporting Vacanze. Participation in TTG Travel Experience forms part of these efforts to strengthen engagement with Italian travel partners and support continued growth in visitor arrivals.

Italy is one of the Maldives’ oldest tourism source markets, with Italian travellers among the early international visitors to the destination following the introduction of tourism in the country. The market has maintained a longstanding relationship with the Maldivian tourism industry.

As of 12 October 2026, the Maldives had recorded 100,779 tourist arrivals from Italy, making it the country’s fifth-largest source market. Visit Maldives aims to maintain this position by strengthening relationships with Italian travel trade partners and promoting the destination to prospective visitors.
