Aishath Nurain Janah appointed Chairperson of Maldives Airports Company Limited
The Privatisation and Corporatisation Board (PCB) has appointed Aishath Nurain Janah as the new Chairperson of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL). The appointment was confirmed on 29 May 2025.
MACL is a state-owned enterprise tasked with the management and operation of Velana International Airport and other aviation infrastructure in the Maldives.
Janah previously served as Chairperson of the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC). During her tenure at MMPRC, she oversaw initiatives to promote the Maldives in international tourism markets.
In her new role, Janah will oversee MACL’s ongoing infrastructure projects, which include the development of new passenger terminals and the enhancement of airport services. These projects are being implemented to accommodate rising passenger volumes and to meet the demands of the tourism sector.
MACL is wholly owned by the Maldivian government and is responsible for managing key elements of the country’s air transport system. The company’s activities are aligned with national development strategies aimed at increasing connectivity and improving service delivery.
The appointment comes at a time when the country’s aviation sector is undergoing expansion to support the continued growth of the tourism industry.
