Amilla Maldives hosts launch of ‘Kanethi Taste’ by Chef Nafha Ismail
Set among the island’s gardens and shared around the table, Amilla Maldives marked the launch of Kanethi Taste, the debut cookbook by Maldivian chef Fathimath “Naf” Nafha Ismail, in a gathering that brought together local media, stories, and flavours rooted in heritage. The presence of local media added to the occasion, as they gathered on the island to share in this moment together.

Held across the lush Mystique Garden and Barolo, the event unfolded at an unhurried island pace. Guests were welcomed with light refreshments, followed by opening remarks and the unveiling of Kanethi Taste, a reflection of homegrown ingredients, family traditions, and Maldivian cuisine, before a guided walk through the garden.

The occasion was made all the more meaningful with the presence of Chef Naf’s parents and family, adding a deeply personal layer to a celebration grounded in tradition, memory, and home.

At Barolo, Chef Naf brought her recipes to life through a live cooking demonstration, followed by a relaxed, family-style lunch where dishes were shared in the spirit of the book. The afternoon continued with a Q&A and book signing, before the event drew to a gentle close with closing remarks.

More than a launch, the occasion reflected Amilla Maldives’ ongoing commitment to celebrating local talent, culture, and community, values that sit at the heart of the resort’s ethos, In Harmony with Purpose. As shared in a message from General Manager Morgan Martinello, this marks the beginning of a wider series that continues to honour Maldivian voices and stories.

Kanethi Taste invites readers into a world of flavour, memory, and connection, a quiet celebration of the Maldives, one dish at a time. The book is now available at the resort for those who wish to take a piece of the island home.
