Angsana Velavaru appoints Jan Lorenzen as Executive Assistant Manager

Angsana Velavaru has announced the appointment of Jan Lorenzen as Executive Assistant Manager. With more than two decades of international experience in the luxury hospitality sector, Jan brings a wealth of knowledge and a distinguished record in leading Food & Beverage operations across Europe and Asia.

Throughout his impressive career, Jan has held senior leadership positions with several prestigious brands, including The Landmark London, Millennium Knightsbridge, Intercontinental Hotels Group, Belmond Napasai, Amari Pattaya, and the Royal Cliff Hotels Group. Most recently, he successfully oversaw the renovation of all Food and Beverage outlets at Angsana Laguna Phuket. His extensive background spans pre-opening projects, large-scale MICE operations, and the management of multi-outlet restaurant and bar venues.

In his new role at Angsana Velavaru, Jan aims to elevate the resort’s Food and Beverage offerings by introducing innovative concepts that reflect both local flavours and global culinary trends. His priorities include enhancing the overall guest experience, nurturing team talent, and embedding sustainable practices throughout the resort’s operations.

Jan describes his leadership approach as hands-on and collaborative. “I believe in empowering my team, fostering a culture of creativity and accountability, and leading by example to achieve our shared goals. I also strive to bring synergy across departments to create magical moments for our guests.” He further emphasised his philosophy towards hospitality: “Food and Beverage is not just about serving a meal – it’s about creating an emotional connection with guests through exceptional moments.”

Looking ahead, Jan expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunities the Maldives presents. “Angsana Velavaru is uniquely positioned to become a true gastronomic destination in the Maldives.
