‘… because tomorrows start today’: BBM’s hospitality partnership built on purpose

Future doesn’t get built in a single moment. It is shaped through decisions taken early, partnerships sustained over time and investments made before results become visible.

That is why the phrase “…because tomorrows start today” as articulated by AVS Subrahmanyam, Chief Operating Officer of Bestbuy Maldives (BBM), resonates beyond branding. In practical terms, it suggests that tomorrow’s leaders must be identified today, tomorrow’s standards must be taught today, and tomorrow’s achievements must be enabled today. It is a slogan that speaks to preparation, ambition and action. It suggests that progress is not an abstract idea reserved for the future, but something built through what is done now.

In the context of the Maldives’ hospitality industry, the idea has particular force. Tomorrow’s excellence in resorts, kitchens, guest services and leadership is determined by whether today’s professionals are recognised, trained, challenged and connected.

Recognition is part of that work. Recognition matters in hospitality because much of the industry’s best work happens in ways that are not always visible to the public. Guest experience is shaped by front office teams, chefs, engineers, housekeepers, spa staff, transport coordinators, dive professionals, learning and development teams, human resources personnel and managers whose work often goes uncelebrated outside their own workplaces.

AVS Subrahmanyam says that the value of recognition lies in the message it sends to the people who keep the industry moving.

“Hospitality is a people-driven business, and when people feel that their work is recognised, it changes how they see their profession and their future within it. Our partnership with Hotelier Maldives Awards is rooted in that belief. We want to support a culture where excellence is acknowledged, where effort is visible, and where professionals across the industry feel encouraged to keep growing,” he said.

A platform such as the Hotelier Maldives Awards gives the industry a structured way to acknowledge that contribution. It also helps create professional confidence, encourages ambition and sets benchmarks that others can work towards. By returning as Title Partner for a third straight year, BBM is once again backing a programme that places people at the centre of hospitality performance.

The Hotelier Maldives Awards were instituted as a national platform dedicated to recognising resort-based hospitality professionals, the awards have created space for individuals and teams across the sector to be seen for their contribution. The 2026 edition continues that effort at scale, with public voting having opened on 15 March for a one-month period ahead of the gala ceremony scheduled for 26 April at NIVA Kurumba Maldives.
