Condor to resume summer flights to Maldives

German airline Condor has announced that it will resume flights to the Maldives during this year’s summer season after a one-year break.

According to the airline’s schedule, flights will operate between Frankfurt and Velana International Airport from May to October. Services are planned for Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Condor last operated summer flights to the Maldives in 2024.

Germany is currently the fifth-largest source market for tourism to the Maldives this year. Data released by the Ministry of Tourism on the 17th of this month shows that 35,811 German tourists have visited the country so far.

The government has said that developments in the Middle East have reduced flight capacity on some routes. Authorities are working to increase flight frequencies from markets including India, China and Russia.

A share of tourist arrivals to the Maldives travel through Middle Eastern routes or use regional airlines. Changes in operations by some airlines have led to the cancellation of scheduled flights.
