CROSSROADS Maldives leads World Tourism Day celebrations, showcasing commitment to regenerative and sustainable tourism

CROSSROADS Maldives commemorated World Tourism Day this year with a series of impactful events, highlighting the importance of sustainable and regenerative tourism. The celebrations included a gathering at Hard Rock Hotel Maldives’ Hard Rock Cafe Maldives, which brought together esteemed partners and students from the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTS) at The Maldives National University. The event at Hard Rock Cafe Maldives provided a platform for future leaders in tourism to engage in discussions on the critical role of sustainability within the industry. Participants, including students, partners, and industry experts, explored innovative approaches to promote responsible tourism and discussed how it can enhance the Maldives’ nature-based assets in a sustainable manner. In alignment with Hard Rock International’s “Save the Planet” ethos, the gathering underscored the commitment to nurturing a new generation of tourism professionals dedicated to sustainable practices.

SAii Lagoon Maldives, Curio Collection by Hilton, also played a key role in the celebrations by sponsoring and actively participating in the World Tourism Day Clean-up Campaign. This initiative, organised in partnership with Ghiyasuddin International School, brought together volunteers for a large-scale cleanup in Hulhumalé, exemplifying CROSSROADS Maldives’ commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement. As a pioneer in sustainable and regenerative tourism, CROSSROADS Maldives has achieved Green Globe certification for two consecutive years. The destination features an in-house Marine Discovery Center that actively conducts various conservation projects and educational programs. Through global partnerships, CROSSROADS Maldives is dedicated to protecting the delicate marine ecosystem that makes the Maldives a globally recognised destination.

By hosting educational events and sponsoring cleanup efforts, CROSSROADS Maldives continues to lead by example, promoting a sustainable tourism framework that ensures the Maldives remains a premier destination while safeguarding its unique natural heritage.
