Daily tourist arrivals in Maldives show growth after seasonal decline
Tourist arrivals in the Maldives have begun to rise following a decline during the low season. According to data from the tourism ministry, an average of 6,491 tourists arrived daily in the first week of August, marking the highest number recorded this year, excluding February.
Key figures for daily tourist arrivals this year are:
- February saw the highest with 7,496 daily arrivals.
- May recorded the lowest with 3,867 daily arrivals.
The length of stay for tourists is also increasing. After dropping to an average of 7.2 days in June, the figure rose to 7.9 days in August.
The government aims to reach 2 million tourists by the end of the year. As of the first week of August, 1.2 million tourists have visited the Maldives, achieving 61.4% of the target.
