December 2025 becomes highest-ever month for tourist arrivals to Maldives
December 2025 marked a new all-time high for monthly tourist arrivals to the Maldives, with 224,455 visitors, surpassing the previous record of 217,392 arrivals in February 2024.
According to official arrival statistics, the strongest daily performance in 2025 was recorded on 28 December, welcoming 9,903 visitors, highlighting robust year-end demand and sustained travel momentum.
These results reinforce the Maldives’ continued global appeal and strong performance during peak travel periods, further cementing its position as one of the world’s leading tourism destinations.
The Maldives also achieved a historic milestone in 2025, recording its strongest overall tourism performance to date, with projected travel receipts expected to exceed USD 5.4 billion, surpassing the national target of USD 5 billion.
According to the latest figures released by the Maldives Monetary Authority, tourism receipts grew by 15.8% year-on-year compared to 2024, demonstrating the resilience and strength of the Maldivian tourism sector amid global and regional economic challenges.
The year concluded with approximately 9.8% growth in arrivals, alongside growth in bed nights, reflecting sustained demand across key source markets. Bed capacity also expanded with the opening of new resorts and guesthouses, further strengthening the Maldives’ accommodation portfolio and long-term tourism outlook.
