Canareef Resort Maldives highlights the inspiring journey of Deepak Kannan, the resort’s Assistant General Manager, whose career in hospitality spans more than two decades across some of the world’s most prestigious hotel brands and destinations.
Deepak’s journey in the hospitality industry began in 2000 when he took on the role of Front Office Agent with Radisson Hotels. Driven by a genuine passion for guest service and an insatiable curiosity, he soon advanced to work with the iconic Burj Al Arab by Jumeirah in Dubai as a Guest Service Executive—a landmark property renowned for its unparalleled luxury standards.
His next professional chapter unfolded with the IHG Crowne Plaza brand, where he dedicated 14 years, rising through the ranks from Front Office Shift Leader to Front Office Manager. His tenure spanned various Emirates in the UAE and later extended to Oman, providing him with a solid foundation in leadership that combined operational excellence with an intuitive grasp of guest expectations.
In 2018, Deepak embraced his first Hotel Manager role with Bin Majid Hotels and Resorts in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. Here, he played a pivotal role in enhancing team performance and elevating guest experiences. He continued to refine his strategic and people-centred leadership skills through General Manager positions at Excelsior Downtown Dubai and Platinum Coast Hotel in Fujairah.
In 2021, Deepak’s expertise was sought after for a consultancy role at a major convention centre in Chennai, India. In this capacity, he contributed to the establishment of the rooms division and operational frameworks, demonstrating his versatility and breadth of skills beyond traditional hotel environments.
At present, Deepak brings his global perspective, operational expertise, and unwavering commitment to team empowerment to Canareef Resort Maldives. He envisions a future where the resort not only flourishes amidst its natural beauty but also embodies a unified, people-first culture.
