Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race 2026 to bring together over 5,600 runners

The Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race (DMRR) 2026 is scheduled to take place on Friday, 20 November, at Hulhumalé Central Park, with more than 5,600 local and international runners expected to participate.

This year’s event marks a milestone for the annual race, which has been officially recognised as a World Athletics Ranking Competition. The race will be conducted on a World Athletics-certified course measured in cooperation with the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).

DMRR 2026 will feature Half Marathon, 10K and 5K Open categories, alongside newly introduced team categories.

The event is expected to attract participants of varying fitness levels, from experienced athletes to first-time runners, providing opportunities to compete and participate in organised running activities.

Through the annual event, Dhiraagu aims to promote healthier and more active lifestyles while encouraging greater participation in running and fitness activities across the Maldives.

Ahead of the race, participants are encouraged to maintain consistent training schedules and make appropriate preparations based on their selected race categories.

DMRR’s coaching partners, The Wellness Club, Island Runners Maldives and Marathon Runners Maldives, will support participants with training guidance focused on endurance development, running techniques and race preparation.

The involvement of the coaching partners is intended to help runners improve their fitness and prepare for the physical demands of their respective race distances.

With more than 5,600 participants expected and its recognition as a World Athletics Ranking Competition, DMRR 2026 will bring together recreational runners and competitive athletes for one of the Maldives’ major annual running events.
