JEN Maldives by Shangri-La distributes iftar packs as part of Ramadan community initiative

JEN Maldives by Shangri-La is marking the holy month of Ramadan with a community-focused initiative aimed at giving back in a practical and considered manner. As part of its annual Ramadan efforts, the hotel has partnered with MU Store to distribute Iftar packs to members of the local community throughout the month.

The initiative reflects JEN Maldives’ continued commitment to community engagement and responsible hospitality, in line with the broader environmental, social and governance (ESG) values of the Shangri-La Group. The hotel’s Food and Beverage team prepares the Iftar items, while colleagues from across departments volunteer their time to pack and distribute the meals.

The effort is driven by collaboration and a shared sense of purpose, with staff participation extending beyond operational roles to support the spirit of generosity associated with Ramadan. The first distribution took place in the evening at the Islamic Centre area, where the Iftar packs were received with appreciation from the community.

Following the initial distribution, the hotel plans to extend the initiative to additional locations across the city in the coming weeks, with the aim of reaching more individuals and families during the holy month.

JEN Maldives by Shangri-La noted that the initiative represents more than a distribution programme, reflecting a purpose-led culture in which colleagues work together to create positive impact beyond daily operations. Through a combination of culinary expertise, volunteer involvement and community partnership, the hotel continues to strengthen its relationship with the local community it serves.

By carrying out this initiative annually, JEN Maldives by Shangri-La seeks to reinforce values of generosity, compassion and unity, which are central to the spirit of Ramadan.
