JOALI BEING appoints Taylor-Jayne Shearman as Executive Chef

JOALI BEING has appointed Taylor-Jayne Shearman as its new Executive Chef.

Taylor was born and raised in the Australian Snowy Mountains. Taylor was awarded the top VET student in the whole of Australia for Hospitality. She completed the Certificate III Commercial Cookery at TAFE Ryde and started her professional journey at the age of 13.

Taylor moved to Sydney to work for one of the prestigious restaurant groups and top restaurant – Mad Cow. She had later worked as a Sous Chef, serving global celebrities and A-list actors in the Turks & Caicos islands. A remarkable milestone for Taylor was achieving the Executive Chef role at the age of 25, during her career at COMO Hotels & Resorts in the Maldives.

Taylor joined the JOALI family in 2018, where she led the restaurant concepts during the pre-opening of JOALI Maldives. Her inspiration as both a chef and a woman in the hospitality industry was ignited under the leadership of Esin Gural Argat, Vice President of Giirok Group and the visionary behind the JOALI brand. Post the pandemic, Taylor spearheaded the culinary team at LUX* North Male, which later transitioned to Jumeirah Maldives.

Taylor is very fortunate to be back with her island family in JOALI BEING, where she continues to aspire mentoring the future generation of chefs, especially Maldivians and females.

Opened in 2021, JOALI BEING is the first wellbeing island of its kind in the Maldives, meeting guests where they are for a personalised and results-driven transformative experience of self-discovery and renewal. Built on the principles of biophilic design, nature is at the centre of life at JOALI BEING, with the island being completely committed to nature immersive and responsible travel – the pathway to true “weightlessness”.

This distinctive wellbeing island is home to a total of 68 exclusive guest villas with pools, consisting of 33 beach villas and 35 water villas. With 13 categories to choose from, guests can opt for one-, two-, three- or four-bedroom villas and residences.

Offering guests unrivalled expertise in ancient Eastern and modern Western philosophies, a dedicated team of naturopaths, therapists and movement experts guide guests through elemental therapies and healing experiences in unique transformation spaces such as KAASHI, the hydrotherapy hall which offers Watsu and Aufguss Sauna, a Turkish-style Hammam, Salt Inhalation Room for halotherapy, and much more. Inviting families to enjoy a multi-generational wellbeing vacation, JOALI BEING recently announced B’Kidult, a new zone for multi-generational play with specially curated offerings to inspire young hearts and minds.
