JW Marriott Kaafu Atoll Island Resort unveils leadership team ahead of December 2024 opening

JW Marriott Kaafu Atoll Island Resort has unveiled its leadership team ahead of its December 2024 opening. Located in the Emboodhu Finolhu lagoon and surrounded by the azure waters of the Indian Ocean, the resort is just 15 minutes from Velana International Airport. The property boasts 80 private pool villas with eco-conscious designs, offering uninterrupted ocean views, expansive terraces, and a lagoon ideal for swimming. The resort is designed to provide a serene environment for guests to reconnect with nature.

Srikanth Devarapalli has been named General Manager of the luxury resort, leading the team in preparation for the launch of the second JW Marriott property and the eighth Marriott Bonvoy resort in the Maldives. Guests can look forward to an exceptional experience, featuring the Spa by JW and culinary offerings that showcase both local and international cuisine.

Srikanth Devarapalli, the General Manager of JW Marriott Kaafu Atoll Island Resort, brings a wealth of luxury hospitality experience. He will oversee the pre-opening efforts, daily operations, and team leadership to ensure the resort meets Marriott’s standards while offering unique JW experiences. Previously, as Area Director and General Manager of the Emerald Collection’s Maldives Resorts, Devarapalli achieved high guest satisfaction and employee engagement, earning international accolades for his properties. His experience includes roles with Constance Hotels, Hyatt, Four Seasons, and the Taj Group.

Mohamed Musthafeez – Resident Manager

Mohamed Musthafeez has joined as Resident Manager, bringing over 20 years of experience in luxury hospitality management. Known for his passion for service, Musthafeez will focus on delivering a seamless guest experience. His career includes roles at Banyan Tree Maldives, Baros Maldives, and the Amari Group, where he excelled in managing room operations.

Paravee Mavichak – Director of Sales & Marketing

With more than 20 years in the hospitality industry, Paravee Mavichak has taken on the role of Director of Sales and Marketing. She will be responsible for the resort’s strategic positioning and commercial strategies. Mavichak began her career with Marriott in 2014 and has since worked at properties like Le Méridien Chiang Mai and W Koh Samui. Most recently, she led the successful renovation and rebranding of Le Méridien Chiang Mai, successfully relaunching it as Chiang Mai Marriott Hotel.

Joan Ibanez – Director of Operations

Joan Ibanez, the new Director of Operations, will oversee food and beverage services at the resort’s seven dining outlets and bars. His extensive experience includes working at Michelin-starred restaurants and luxury properties like JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa. His leadership will ensure a unique culinary experience for guests and aligns perfectly with JW brand.

Uday Nayak – Director of Human Resources

Uday Nayak, Director of Human Resources, brings 19 years of experience with Marriott to his new role. This marks his eighth property and fourth pre-opening in the Maldives. Nayak’s expertise spans training, recruitment, and employee relations, with a focus on fostering a positive work culture.

Ankita Thakur – Director of Marketing & Communications

Ankita Thakur has been appointed Director of Marketing and Communications. With experience at Raffles Maldives Meradhoo, Thakur is known for her innovative marketing strategies. Her expertise includes rebranding, renovations, and pre-opening projects, making her well-suited to elevate the resort’s brand presence.

Naushad Ahmed – Director of Sales

Naushad Ahmed, the new Director of Sales, brings 16 years of experience in sales and revenue management. Ahmed’s career with Marriott began in reservations, and he has since held leadership roles in both the Maldives and Thailand. He will develop strategies to engage sales partners and foster relationships that contribute to the resort’s success.

Cha Jae Yong ‘Allen’ – Executive Chef

Executive Chef Cha Jae Yong, known as Chef Allen, brings his global culinary experience to JW Marriott Kaafu Atoll. His career includes working in Michelin-starred kitchens and cooking for dignitaries such as former U.S. President Barack Obama. Chef Allen’s culinary approach blends tradition with innovation, and his commitment to sustainability aligns with the resort’s values.

Ary is known for her innovative treatments and deep understanding of relaxation and well-being.

Mifraz Mohamed – Director of Finance

Mifraz Mohamed returns to Marriott as Director of Finance, bringing a wealth of experience in financial operations. He previously worked at Hard Rock Hotels and served as Senior Auditor with Ernst & Young. At JW Marriott Kaafu Atoll, Mohamed will manage finance, procurement, legal matters, and information systems.
