Kuda Villingili Resort Maldives hosts second annual Blood Donation Drive
Kuda Villingili Resort Maldives, a Green Globe Certified property recognised for its sustainability initiatives and commitment to community welfare, hosted its second consecutive Blood Donation Drive on 29 August 2025. The event was held in collaboration with Maldivian Blood Services, operating under the Ministry of Health, and received strong support from the resort’s ambassadors.
The initiative forms part of Kuda Villingili’s wider Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, which seeks to redefine ‘time and space’ by addressing vital healthcare needs and improving community wellbeing. Blood collected during the drive will support patients requiring transfusions, including individuals affected by Thalassaemia, a genetic blood disorder with one of the highest prevalence rates in the Maldives.
Maldivian Blood Services, the country’s leading blood bank and transfusion service provider, works to ensure a safe and sufficient blood supply nationwide. Its partnership with Kuda Villingili reflects a shared commitment to enhancing public health and promoting the importance of voluntary blood donations.
Participants were screened against eligibility criteria designed to safeguard both donors and recipients. Donors were required to be in good health, aged between 18 and 65, weigh at least 50 kilograms, and demonstrate normal haemoglobin levels. Those with certain health conditions or recent medical procedures were temporarily deferred.
Thalassaemia continues to pose a significant public health challenge in the Maldives, requiring patients to undergo regular transfusions. The resort’s continued efforts to support blood donation initiatives highlight its commitment to alleviating this issue and contributing towards improved community health.
Kuda Villingili Resort Maldives expressed its gratitude to Maldivian Blood Services and its ambassadors for their active participation. Through such initiatives, the resort reaffirmed its dedication to building a healthier and more compassionate community.
