Malaysia Airlines begins daily flights to Maldives
Malaysia Airlines on Thursday began flights operations to the Maldives.
The flag carrier of Malaysia’s first flight to the Maldives landed at Velana International Airport (VIA) Thursday afternoon. The 168 passengers were warmly welcomed with traditional activities.
Malaysia Airlines, which is represented in Maldives by Aviation Services Private Limited, offers daily flights between Kuala Lumpur and Maldives capital Male. The airline uses a 174-seat Boeing 737-800 airplane for the service.
The Malaysian market holds potential for the Maldives. In the previous year, it ranked 26th as a source market with a notable 13,551 tourist arrivals.
