Maldives named runners-up for fifth consecutive year at 2017 Telegraph Travel Awards
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Maldives has been named runners-up in the Best Country category at the 2017 Telegraph Travel Awards. Maldives came in second after New Zealand, which was voted the best destination by the readers of The Telegraph. This is the fifth consecutive time Maldives has been named in the second spot.
The Telegraph Travel Awards is one of the most trusted in the industry, as votes are given by the readers of The Telegraph – the sixth-most-circulated daily newspaper in the UK. According to The Telegraph, its readers are “among the most experienced, discerning and adventurous of travellers.”
New Zealand has consecutively won the top spot in the Telegraph Travel Awards since 2012, while Maldives has also been ranked in the number two spot since 2012. South Africa came in third in the awards this year. Almost 90,000 readers voted for the awards this year.
Looking at some of the other categories of the 2017 Telegraph Travel Awards; Cape Town was the winner in the Best City category, followed by Vancouver and Tokyo in the second and third spot. Oberoi Hotels & Resorts was named as the Best Hotel Group, followed in second place by Belmond Hotels and Taj Hotels taking third place.
