Maldives’ 2024 tourist arrivals cross 1.3 million
The number of tourists visiting Maldives this year has reached over 1.3 million.
Data from the Tourism Ministry shows that 1,304,235 tourists have visited Maldives as of Monday. Last year, the number of tourists during the same period was 1.2 million.
China has sent the highest number of tourists to Maldives this year, followed by Russia and the UK.
India, ranked as the biggest source market for the past three years, is now ranked as the sixth largest source of tourism. So far this year, 77,326 tourists have arrived in Maldives from India. Last year, 209,198 tourists from India visited the country.
The ministry reports that tourists spend an average of 7.7 days in Sri Lanka. The country currently has 62,740 beds available for tourism, according to the ministry.
The government aims to reach 2 million tourists by the end of the year.
