Maldives Inflight Catering Group introduces new grooming policy to reflect modern trends
Maldives Inflight Catering (MIC) Group has announced the launch of its revised grooming policy, effective January 1, 2025, reinforcing its commitment to professionalism while embracing evolving trends in hospitality. The updated guidelines ensure a balance between modern aesthetics, local customs and international standards, reflecting MIC’s dedication to fostering an inclusive and progressive workplace by catering to newer generations and embracing industry’s best practices.
The key highlights of the updated policy include male team members being permitted to have facial hair, provided they are clean and neatly trimmed, including styles such as French beards. Male team members may also wear man buns combined with an undercut, ensuring their hair remains neatly styled and away from the face. Strict hygiene protocols remain unchanged, particularly for employees in food production areas, who are required to wear hairnets or beard snoods at all times.
To ensure adherence to the revised standards, MIC group has also introduced a dedicated Grooming Committee, responsible for conducting regular audits and reporting on grooming and hygiene compliance across the company.
Ali Shakir, Group General Manager of MIC, emphasised the significance of these updates, stating: “The hospitality sector is constantly evolving, and our grooming standards are designed to keep MIC at the forefront of these changes. By balancing respect for local customs with international best practices, we aim to create a professional, inclusive, and modern workplace.”
