Maldives targets sustainable growth and showcases the sunny side of life at ATM 2024
The Maldives is aiming for ambitious and sustainable tourism growth, as highlighted by both the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) and Minister of Tourism Ibrahim Faisal at the ongoing Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2024 in Dubai.
Minister Faisal’s Vision
In his address at ATM, Minister Faisal outlined the Maldives’ visionary goals, including achieving a significant 6.5% growth in tourist arrivals and realizing the ambitious targets of the 5-Year Tourism Master Plan. This plan envisions 2 million visitors and a staggering $6 billion in annual receipts by 2027.
“Our vision extends beyond luxury,” said Minister Faisal. “Sustainability is not just a buzzword for us; it is a core principle that guides our development.”
Large Delegation & Strategic Presence
Aligned with this vision, MMPRC, along with 123 tourism establishments and 253 representatives, are showcasing the “Sunny Side of Life” at ATM. This four-day event is a key platform for the Maldives to connect with travel professionals, forge new partnerships, and promote itself as a leader in luxury, sustainable, and safe travel experiences. The large Maldivian delegation reflects the country’s commitment to the Middle Eastern market, a crucial source of tourists.
Unique Stand & Multi-Faceted Experience
The Maldives’ presence at ATM is impossible to miss. Visitors are greeted by a 517.5 sqm, double-decker stand that reflects the ever-changing colors of the Maldives’ tropical atmosphere. Inside, attendees can engage in productive meetings, participate in media interviews, and experience the beauty of the Maldives through a 360-degree video booth and cultural performances.
Beyond the Stand: Events & Promotions
MMPRC has planned several events to further amplify the Maldives’ presence. These include a press conference for media representatives, raffle draws with a chance to win free holidays, and the launch of new travel resources showcasing the Maldives’ diverse offerings. Notably, the Maldives is also nominated for four World Travel Awards categories.
Focus on Sustainability & Entrepreneurial Spirit
The Maldives aligns with ATM’s theme, “Transforming Travel Through Entrepreneurship,” showcasing its commitment to sustainable practices and supporting tourism entrepreneurs. This focus positions the Maldives as an ideal destination for eco-conscious travelers.
Solidifying a Key Market
The Middle East is a significant source market for the Maldives. MMPRC utilizes year-round marketing efforts to solidify the Maldives’ position as a top travel destination in the region. These efforts include collaborations with stakeholders, media familiarization trips, targeted marketing campaigns, and strategic partnerships with airlines.
By showcasing its natural beauty, diverse tourism options, and commitment to sustainable practices, the Maldives aims to attract more visitors from the Middle East and solidify its place as a leading travel destination.
