Nominations open for Hotelier Maldives Awards 2025, presented by BestBuy Maldives (BBM)

Hotelier Maldives has announced that nominations for the Hotelier Maldives Awards 2025, presented by BestBuy Maldives (BBM), are now officially open! Scheduled to take place in May 2025, this prestigious event builds on the success of the inaugural edition held in April 2024. The upcoming awards will feature four new categories, further broadening the recognition of outstanding professionals who make invaluable contributions to the Maldives’ tourism and hospitality sectors.

Launched in 2024, the Hotelier Maldives Awards aim to honour exceptional individuals who have demonstrated excellence and dedication in their respective fields. The inaugural awards attracted over 300 nominations and received 100,000 votes from the public, showcasing the event’s significance within the industry. Presented by BestBuy Maldives (BBM), the 2025 awards will continue this legacy by celebrating the best performers of 2024.

For the 2025 edition, the awards have introduced four additional categories:

1. Watersports Personality of the Year
2. Diving Personality of the Year
3. Airport Representative of the Year
4. Resort Manager of the Year

These new categories complement the existing ones, ensuring a comprehensive celebration of the diverse talents driving the Maldives’ tourism success.

All hotels and resorts in the Maldives are eligible to nominate team members for the awards. Hotel representatives can submit nominations on behalf of their colleagues via a dedicated online form. Hotelier Maldives recommends that nominations be approved by the HR, PR, Marketing teams, or the General Manager’s office before submission.

• Each hotel or resort may nominate one person per category.
• Nominations should highlight achievements from the past 12 months, as the awards aim to recognise exceptional performance in 2024.
• All nominations must be submitted online through the official nomination form. Submissions in other formats will not be accepted.

Nominations will close on January 31, 2025. Late submissions will not be considered, so resorts are encouraged to nominate deserving colleagues promptly.

Once the nominations are received, Hotelier Maldives will compile a shortlist of eligible nominees who meet the submission criteria. This list, along with supporting documents, will be reviewed by an independent panel of judges. The judging process will include:

• Evaluation of nominees’ achievements by the panel.
• Announcement of finalists online, followed by a public voting phase.
• Determination of winners based on an aggregate score of 60% judges’ marks and 40% public votes.

The winners will be revealed at a gala ceremony in May 2025.
